The gang healed up until noon. Then, aside from Kim and Attikos (who was still passed out), they went down into the cave. They chose to go away from the undead, into another room. After blowing past that door (Caleb critically succeeded twice in a row with the Rive spell), they turned back. (I have no idea why.)

They went back to Fort Rénnutēs, dumping healing spells for two days into Attikos so he'd wake up without dying of dehydration. (I missed having him roll HT to wake up in the evening, though this would have been near result if he had failed.)

On the way, they saw a weird-looking chicken by a cave. As there were few settlements in the hills, they guessed it was a lone cockatrix. Mayhem made a mating call (Mimicry), making it randy and having it come near them. However, as it came nearer, it made Grymalkus and Ash ill. Caleb missed with Fireball, but Uruk shot it twice.

Back at Fort Rénnutēs, Kim, Attikos, and Grymalkus left, while Kôštē the cleric rejoined. The next day, they went a little southwest and tracked down the six orcs who ran from the attack on the fort.

From there it was mostly a slaughter fest. Mayhem asked, “Where the orc women at?” The orcs, not having seen the gang, turned. Xoran plunked one with an arrow, Caleb started casting Blast Ball, and Mayhem said, “I want some!” The orcs pulled out their bows and falchions, and moved to fight.

Xoran shot the orc again, which rushed Mayhem and missed. Caleb got off his Blast Ball, which scorched all three orc archers, and spoiled the aim of two of them. Xoran dropped his bow, whipped out his swords, and moved to strike but missed, as did Mayhem.

Two orcs hit Mayhem, which just made him mad. Ash blocked the blow of the third, and the archers drew their falchions. Caleb fired up Sunbolt, and Xoran got one in the neck. Mayhem, now mad, took out two with neck shots. The orc archers chose to keep fighting, however, and moved to fight. Xoran took out another, and Ash poked the last one in the neck. He kept fighting, however, and Xoran missed him as he moved to fight. Mayhem, however, wasn’t so unlucky, and lopped off his head before killing the last orc.

They set went north from there. After passing a hole one day, they came to a big cave the next, where Uruk stomped a rattlesnake to death.

The day after that, they made it to the ogre cave early, but after first finding a rock covered in odd oil (which Caleb held back from burning) then a falling rock smashing into Uruk. Uruk led everyone to the room with the undead, and opened the door. He announced, "Remember me, bitches?" Nothing happened, so he smashed open the first casket.

The dead body in the casket was a draug with an axe, which it swung at Uruk, making him go berserk. The other caskets opened, and the heroes went into the room. Mayhem smacked his axe into the neck of one of the draugr near the door, while Uruk hit draug that had made him mad. The draug smacked Uruk right back, while the one near Mayhem reached up and hit Ash, who was standing nearby. Unlike most other blows, this one got through Ash’s armor. The other draugr sat up.

Xoran, Mayhem, and Ash all tried to take out draugr, and all three failed. Uruk, however, hit the one on him, while Caleb shot Acid Jet at the nearby coffin, which had the draug that Mayhem and Ash were fighting. The one by Mayhem and Ash missed Mayhem, while the one by Xoran dropped its axe as it tried to hit him (critical success Parry). The others stood up.

Mayhem at last took out the draug by him, and Xoran got in two neck shots on the draug near him. Uruk got a good whack on the draug fighting him, while Caleb started casting his old friend, Blast Ball. The draug by Uruk hit him, while the others got out of their caskets.

The draug fighting Xoran at last stood up, just in time for Xoran to take off its head. Mayhem tried hitting the hand of a draug near him, but it blocked his axe with its shield. Uruk flailed at the draug fighting him but did nothing, and Caleb lobbed his Blast Ball, but the draugr near ground zero got out of the way.

The draug on Uruk kept hurting him, while the one fighting Mayhem lost its balance from Mayhem’s parry. The others rushed in to fight, and missed; Ash at this time smashed one in the head, which didn’t seem to do anything. Xoran turned and tried to take off the leg of a draug that had rushed to fight him but didn’t get through, while Mayhem again had his try to take off the draug’s hand blocked. Ash missed the skull of the one on him. Uruk dropped his shield and axe, then grabbed the hand of the draug fighting him. Caleb again fired up Blast Ball.

The draug on Mayhem hit him and wrecked Mayhem’s grip on his axe, though he somehow held on. Mayhem went berserk, either from was the pain or the bad grip. Xoran parried both of the draugr fighting him, but a blow from one got through Ash’s armor. One by Uruk harmed him, but whose hand Uruk was holding couldn’t break free.

Mayhem got his axe ready, and both Xoran and Ash missed the draugr by them. Uruk twisted the hand of the hand of the draug up to its head, then crushed in its skull with his hands. Caleb lobbed Blast Ball and scorched two draugr from behind.

The draugr by the upset Mayhem and Uruk both hurt them, but the one on Ash met his shield and the one on Xoran met his swords. Xoran then use one sword to fake out the draug while planting his sword in its neck. Mayhem at last got his axe to the draug’s hand, crippling it and making it drop it axe. Ash feinted with his sword, while Uruk grappled the other draug by him. Caleb low on fatigue, lit up a small Fireball, while Kôštē, holding the door nearby, cast Lend Energy on Caleb.

Mayhem’s armor and Ash’s shield took the blow from two draugr, much as did Xoran’s swords from two more. Uruk’s draug was unable to break free of his grip. Xoran again tricked a draug with a feint, and then took it down with a neck blow. Mayhem, in his rage, saw this, and did the same feint and neck blow takedown trick. Ash’s feint also worked, and he gave the draug by him some nasty neck damage, though it still stood. Uruk again crushed the skull of the draug he grappled. Caleb threw a Fireball at a draug, but both it and Ash got out of the way.

The draug on Ash tried for his open face, but missed, while the one still fighting Xoran had its blow land on one of his swords. Xoran tried to hit the neck of that draug but missed, while Mayhem’s axe met the shield of another draug. Likewise, Ash also missed. Uruk then grabbed yet another draug, and Caleb cast a bigger Fireball.

The draug on Ash swung a bit low and hit him on the Armor of the Ape, not hurting him, but knocking him back a few feet. The one Uruk was grabbing slowly wiggled free. Xoran got one draug in the chest with a stab, but it still stood. Mayhem’s axe again met shield while Ash’s sword again met steel. Uruk imposed more grip on the draug he was grabbing, while Caleb’s Fireball again missed both the draug and Ash.

The draug grappling with Uruk again started to work free while the one fighting Ash lost his grip. Xoran lost his balance as he tried to stab a draug, while Mayhem and Ash both missed. Uruk grabbed the draug tighter, while Caleb fired up yet another Fireball.

The draug with Uruk tried to wiggle free, while the one fighting Ash smacked him in the face, taking him to the ground. Xoran stabbed a draug’s head from behind, taking it down, and Mayhem planted his axe into the torso of another, taking it down.

Uruk crushed the skull of the last one. He looked up, and fell down, now dead from his wounds.

The fight was against 8 draugr. They were helped by the first few draugr having to fight from lying down, but the ability to do 4d6+2 cutting damage has a way of equalizing that.

Mayhem and Uruk both went Berserk. Uruk took so much damage that he dropped dead of the fatigue loss at the end of combat. (He was spending fatigue on mighty blows.)

Xóran learned the worth of feinting. With two swords, this is a great idea, especially since someone with Broadsword-20 has more skill than most foes. He also didn't get a scratch on him owing to parrying with two swords.

Grappling is a good idea against draugr with 27 HP, but not foolproof. They can impose 2d6+3 control points right back. But it turned their shields into liabilities, turning their main defense from a Parry or Block of 12 +2 DB for the shield to a Dodge of 11 -2 DB for the shield.

Ash also took damage, namely smacks to the face but also 4d6+2 cutting to the body. Having a DR 14 breastplate may be great against bandits, but not against someone with ST 22.

Having these guys go down at 0 HP made this fight much easier. With their obscene HT 15, they could have functioned below 0 HP had I chosen not to call them meaningless mooks. Having said that, I see that I missed that they shouldn't have been able to parry as much as they did, having axes.

The death of Uruk

Psycho Dave: “Weasly your character is dead, since there are no clerics nearby you may add your character sheet to the binder of shame.”
…
Me: “What exactly is a Binder of Shame? And why is it so large?”
Psycho Dave: “Every D&D game has many binders but each D&D game must have a Binder of Shame and a Binder of Glory. The player characters that die heroic deaths are saved forever in the page protectors of the Binder of Glory. The characters that suffer, humiliating, soul-crushing deaths go into the Binder of Shame. It’s a sign of quality GMing to have a Binder of Shame three times the size of your Binder of Glory.”

Uruk goes into the Binder of Glory.

Alright, I’m feeling lazy. I have a game tomorrow, and a bibliography plan to write (as well as a website to design the next week, and reference observations to write up the week after that—it has been a busy semester). I’ll summarize the action for the two sessions, mostly so I have them online for my own benefit.

Uruk the orc soldier was thrown out of the guard at Fort Rénnutēs for fear that he'd join the oncoming orcs. So, he went to join the skeevy folks who showed up the night before and warned of the orc attack.

No sooner had he come out and Xoran had given him grief for being an orc did a squad of guards from Fort Rénnutēs (or, as Mayhem called it, Fort “Takeapiss”) come out to arrest Kim for the price on her head. After Xoran wouldn’t let them take her, Kôštē went in her stead, thinking they’ll need her healing for the upcoming battle.

They were about to go when Uruk spotted a big slug on the back of Caleb’s neck. Grymalkus did some surgery on it, taking it off as it had started to work its tendrils into Caleb’s blood supply.

That afternoon, they came upon a big sea cave. In it, they fought three big beetles. Mayhem took out one, Uruk pinned the second, while Xoran killed the third. They found evil runes in the opening of the cave, but there were too many to take out without more magical firepower.

The next day, they spent trudging slowly through the hills. After finding out that both Grymalkus and Attikos were out of food, Xoran and Mayhem had the gang spend the next two days looking for more. Caleb was sick with a fever for those two days, though Grymalkus cared for him, only to have Attikos get sick with the same fever after those two days were done.

In spite of Attikos being ill, they pushed on after two days. This time, they walked all day, with no breaks to look for food, though Mayhem had them change their path to keep away from a rockslide.

That night, they heard a screech from afar. Xoran barked to respond, and a big puma showed up. Once it saw the gang, the puma ran to strike. Uruk, Xoran, and Mayhem missed with their opening shots, and Caleb cast Sunlight to help everyone see. The puma leapt at Xoran and tried to put its claw in his face, but Xoran parried and crippled the puma’s claw as he did so. Then, Kim shot the puma from hiding, Xoran gave it two quick sword strikes back, and Mayhem ended its life by cutting off its head.

They went back to bed, and Attikos looked for a sign from Saundīvós, and looked into the sun to see an ogre with a big sword in the hills to the north. They went north, and not long after breaking camp, an arrow greeted them as they trod. “Get away you assholes!” shouted a young woman.

Xoran screamed back, “We’re here for the head of the ogre!” However, she ran away, and Uruk ran after her. He slammed her and pushed her to the ground, and the others caught up to them.

Mayhem recognized the woman as Dúštē, something of a loose woman from his tribe. After asking what she was doing so far to the north, she said, “We’ve gone to worship Lutōdîvē ourselves.” She explained that she and some other barbarians in the Dragon Claw Clan were tired of the harassment the tribe would give them for their free love ways, which she said were of the worship of the love goddess Lutōdîvē, that they left and moved almost to the mountains. They backed off her, and Dúštē told them where the ogres were.

The gang went along the way she had told them, and in late afternoon, they found an ogre. The ogre saw them and shouted “Eat eat eat!” as he ran towards Caleb, whose Explosive Fireball didn’t work. However, Uruk went behind the hungry ogre, and put two arrows in his vitals, ending his life.

Mayhem followed the ogre’s trail, but did not see more by nightfall, so they made camp. That evening, they spotted three ogres, who did not spot the camp. Uruk shot one, Xoran, Ash, and Mayhem took out a second, while the third one didn’t look back until Caleb cast Sunlight. Uruk shot him, and the ogre shouted, “Sun hit me!” Uruk went up to end the ogre’s life and kicked him in the face. The ogre groaned, “Sun kill me!” before passing out and the heroes killing him off.

Obviously, running the game is more interesting than writing the log, but I have to have a record for my own reference, and it's my way of advertising the game to anyone who might want to join.

And someone did. Brandon is the new guy, playing Uruk (pronounced “Erik”) the orc bowman soldier. He's a GURPS fan originally from North Carolina who is now in the frozen cold. It’s nice to have someone else who knows the system well in the game.

The ogres died by low Perception. They didn’t spot the camp, and, even after the gang had shot two, the third one didn’t hear anything noteworthy, as I was rolling Perception checks to see if he had and he failed them badly, and only knew something was up when the Sunlight spell went off behind him. I felt even an ogre wouldn’t be so dumb to not think something was up when the sun came up behind him at 10 at night.

Knowing they may be fighting a werewolf, Mayhem harvested three bundles of wolfsbane.

Then the gang went south to Mīštássun. There, Kim stole a silver-coated large knife at Mayhem’s behest.

After the short pit stop, the heroes set out to find the wolf man, but instead wandered to the hobbit village of Kīkídzā. The hobbits in Kīkídzā were frightened of everything. The wolf man struck there many years ago and has been coming back every so often ever since.

While in Kīkídzā, Áttikos looked to the sun for foresight, and had a sight of the wolf man and someone the size of a hand flying around him.

The gang spent the night in the village and left at dawn. This time, they made it to the sinkhole and saw a wolf below. The wolf watched them. Xóran shot it, and the arrow hit the wolf but did not hurt hum. Mayhem dropped a bundle of wolfsbane down the cliff wall, and the wolf backed off before kicking dirt onto it.

After chatting among themselves to see what to do next, they came to an insight: against a werewolf, with almost no silver weapons, they could do nothing. As such, they chose to go north into the hills to find the ogre and his sword.

First, they went back to Mīštássun, where they spent the night. Áttikos woke up with the flu, but Kôštē cured him, and the gang set forth for Rēláištiš. On the way, two men warily walked toward them, and said, “Can I help you with anything, friend?” Xóran said they were headed up north, and the men passed. In Rēláištiš, Kim sold some captured armor and weapons. The day after that, the gang went to the Dragon Claw Clan's winter grounds, and bought winter clothes for half off.

The next morning, they set forth for the Áos Hills. Mayhem, wanting to make quick time going north, led the gang east for the Sarkērrêne River, as walking along it would be easier than walking through the hills. They made it to the river near the end of the day, then started up it the next morning.

Late the second afternoon, they fought two wolpertinger—a flying hare with antlers and big teeth—and beat them easily, though Kim did shoot Xóran in the back. However, as soon as nobody was looking, the bodies of the wolpertingers’ vanished.

On the third day, having gone as far north along the river as they cared, they turned back west, hoping to stop at the Zúbrās Mining Company where Caleb, Mayhem, and Kim had worked in the summer. On the way, they stumbled on a gutted deer carcass. That night, they saw a campfire a few miles back to the east, not far off the path they had taken inland.

The next day they reached the mining camp, and found the outskirts empty. Áttikos tried to look to the sun for answers, fails. Meanwhile Mayhem, Kim, and Xóran snuck towards middle of camp and saw armed orc and goblin patrols, lacking slave collars.

Looking for answers instead of trouble, Mayhem chose to try to find the campfire they had seen the night before. They made it within sight of where they had camped the night before when a husky man with an unkempt mustache and a spear stopped them. “Who are you?”

Caleb smirked. “Who are YOU?”

The hunter snorted. “I asked you first.” After an awkward silence, he kept going. “Are you guys hunters?”

Mayhem grinned. “We can be.”

The hunter raised an eyebrow. “You’re not from the mines, are you?”

Caleb shook his head. “No, but we were there this summer.”

Áttikos stepped forward. “Are you from the mines?”

The hunter shook his head. “I wouldn’t go there. I think there’s a slave uprising.” He went on to say that the uprising had been going on for a few days, as he had heard the din when he was hunting near the mining camp. The hunter and the heroes then let each other know that both had seen each other’s campfires the night before.

Now wanting to know more, Kim, Xóran, Áttikos, and Grymálkus went back to mining camp, with Kim and Xóran hanging behind the other two by a safe gap. Áttikos and Grymálkus watched what the orcs and goblins were doing, which was arming themselves with crummy weapons that the kobold batmen were handing out. The thought that the slaves would send a raiding party somewhere for more gear.

It was right about then that three orcs spotted them. As the heroes backed off, the orcs turned and fled. Áttikos got off a parting shot, but it didn't get through the orc's armor.

The heroes made it back to where the others were waiting. The hunter told them that the slaves would either make for the Sarkērrêne River and head south along it, or maybe hit Fort Rénnutēs first, which was only about five miles to the south. Then he left to make his camp elsewhere.

The gang didn't want to fight about 70 armed slaves, so they chose to go back on their quest, but first went south to Fort Rénnutēs. A short old man opened the gate, and Xóran asked him if they could come inside. The man instead told Xóran to get lost. Mayhem and Ash said that there was a slave uprising at the mines and that they might head south, and the old man slammed the door in their face. "Then get away from here!"

The camped near the fort. Nobody came out to tell them they couldn't.

This is two session reports together, 31 August and 14 September. As you can see, there wasn't much fighting, but instead some world exploring. John, who plays Kim and Ash, was in the hospital on 31 August with a pesky cellulitis infection; he played on 14 September, and we came to the aftercare facility to do so. After our experience gaming with Chris at Walker Methodist ("They're playing Dragons and Dungeons. It's hilarious! They keep going to all these motels."), we're happy John will only be there a few weeks, and, best of all, checking out on his own two feet.

And, thanks to Roman posting game info on a Facebook group for information about maces and warhammers, we might have another player the next time we play, which should be some time in October. (Looking at an orc archer.) We'll be playing Rifts on the 30th; Steph (Mayhem) wants to GM a one-off scenario he's had in mind for some time. I understand I'm playing a rogue scholar, not my crazy, which I'm sure will be to the relief of some others at the table. (He's crazy in, ah, uncomfortable ways. I'm sure I'll blog about it some time. It's much more interesting to me than the powers he has, something I'll have to check.)

Back in town, the gang bought gear and listened for tales. Four of them heard something worthwhile:

  • Xóran heard that an ogre with a mighty sword and his gang has taken over a mine in the north of the Áos Hills, near the wrecked Abbey of the Respectful Warrior.
  • Ash heard that undead and werewolves haunt the hobbit village of Kīkídzā at night.
  • Mayhem heard that evil cultists had poisoned themselves in their church in the woods, and their riches were still there.
  • Grymálkus heard that sexy Lady Dīdótē of Érrōn Point suddenly had gotten fat.

After a week of all this and some colder weather, they set forth in the sun, first for Érrōn Point, planning on going through there on the way to the hills, wherein they would seek help from Mayhem's kin. On the way, they ran into a gang of eight wayfarers. They tried to walk past, but the woman at the fore of the gang dropped her hood, showing her bulging grey eyes.

She was Grádē, whom they had met that summer, and she recognized Kim, who was at the fore of the party. Grádē was oddly  glad to see Kim, and, after asking if Kim and the others had learnt the true path of Ga’an, told her that the other half of her cult was in Fort Rénnutēs, which was in the hills, south of the Zúbrās Mines, and the goons who staffed the keep didn’t think much of her cult. Unbeknownst to Grádē, the path to the Abbey of the Respectful Warrior would take them near Fort Rénnutēs.

Anyways, shortly after nightfall, they reached Érrōn Point. A peasant woman named Praigên told them that Lady Dīdótē, wife of Lord Néttōr, got fat while putting on a girdle to turn on her husband. Praigên was happy that Dīdótē was now fat, as her husband no longer put his hand in his pants upon seeing her.

After learning this, the heroes went to the small manor house and knocked on the door. A well-dressed and handsome man answered the door, and Ash, leading the gang, said, “We’ve come to see the lady of the house.”

The man said, “My wife is not seeing anyone. Go away.” It was Lord Néttōr.

Xórin and Ash said they would help for nothing at all, but Néttōr bet them they couldn’t. When they again said they would help for nothing at all and there would be nothing in it for him if they couldn’t help, he told them to go away and slammed the door.

Praigên let the gang spend the night at her home. There, after drinking a few beers with her husband, Caleb learned that while the village was clean, it stayed small since Néttōr had gambling debts and never had any money.

Now knowing this, Caleb took the heroes back to the manor house the next day. There, after one of the children answered the door and fetched Néttōr, Caleb told him that they knew about his gambling debts, and tossed a glowing rock up and down in his hand. Néttōr was unimpressed by the glowing rock, but Caleb stared him down, and started tossing the rock higher and higher.

Néttōr got the idea. “What do you want?” He opened the door, letting them inside, and they got to see the family painting with Néttōr and Dīdótē, who was indeed quite comely, at least in the painting.

Caleb said back, “First, we want to fix your wife.”

Lord Néttōr shrugged. “Why should it matter that you want to fix my wife? Every guy in the county wants to fix my wife.”

Xórin then shot in, “Is your wife really that good?”

Néttōr stared icily back at Xórin, saying nothing to him, but instead called out for his wife. After some coaxing, Dīdótē came out. She looked much as she did in the painting, but weighed about twice what the woman in the painting weighed. She brought with her the girdle, which was now wrecked, as she suddenly had become fat upon donning it and her sudden girth had broken the girdle. Caleb felt that this was indeed a magical girdle.

Néttōr and Dīdótē didn’t know who did this, but did know a few things:

  • Dīdótē had bought the girdle from Makšilíā, a dressmaker in the town of Mīštássun (the heroes’ home) who held a lesser noble title.
  • The two had some foes from their misbegotten youth. They didn’t spill any beans, but it was clear that they had been less than lawful.
  • Suggên, a friend of Dīdótē from Ōndrûnkš, had lost her husband last year. Again, Néttōr and Dīdótē did not tell how this happened, but Dīdótē said she was helping Suggên try to learn what had happened.
  • Prailtûvos, the husband of Dīdótē’s friend Attibélon, had tried to sleep with Dīdótē the year before at some kind of games, but Dīdótē had pushed him away.

While not knowing who had done this, the heroes chose to go back to Mīštássun to see if Bašêr, head of the Church of Saundīvós, could come and banish the curse on the farthings of the heroes. On the way, they ran into a gang of bandits who were trying to ambush wayfarers, but found themselves dead at the sword points of the heroes. Once back in Mīštássun at the end of the day, now richer with the 55 copper and 25 silver they found on the bandits and the 1,500 copper they made from selling the lame gear of the bandits, they found that Bašêr was quite eager to help them.

First, we had a long chat about why I don’t write storylines. In a nutshell, I don’t find them fun, and they’re much harder to prepare since the players will go off the rails. Conflicts? I’m all into them, but I want the players to find the conflict that suits them best.

This session had many reaction rolls, and most of them went well, aside from the first one with Néttōr.

I glossed over the fight since from a game tale standpoint it isn’t interesting. I told the players this at the start of the fight, once the bandits had failed their rolls to ambush, and encouraged them to experiment with combat techniques. In one of my favorite gaming moments, Roman’s eyes lit up when he at last understood why the hit location table was so important, and tried a few tricks. The first was one he called “Trimming the Hedges” wherein Xórin used All-Out Attack (Double) and hit each arm of a bandit, trying to cut off each. Neither came off, but both were crippled, taking that bandit out of the fight. Right afterwards, Xórin stabbed a bandit in the vitals and, the next second, did the same to another bandit. As the second bandit died, Xórin said, “Too bad you can’t tell your friends about me,” and howled.

Steph, for her part, got more used to Mayhem swinging for the neck. After beheading one bandit, he stepped towards another, and “axe[d] [him] out nicely” to cut off his head, too, with a crit: “Momma had a baby and his head popped off!”

Five points. In a takeaway from Whiterock that has jibed with things I’ve felt so far, I’ve chosen to give out five points most sessions, as well as lobbing out the unused disadvantages from the character sheets.

Game log for 3 January 2016

Short session

I was tired, and I left my iPad behind, so I was going off my notes on my phone. One of the players told me the next day that I didn’t look good. Anyways, we spent awhile updating character sheets and spending points.

The day after the summer solstice, the gang set forth to go back to Dībités Rock and loot its dungeon. In the afternoon, they came into the path of eight wayfarers. After greeting each other, the leader, a gaunt woman named Grádē who talked about herself in the third person, asked the heroes if they had heard the word of Ga’an. Yémos had heard of the god Ga’an, who had something to do with a mountain, so he said they had, but had more pressing duties. Grádē told heroes that the worshippers at Fort Rénnutēs were heretics. After the wayfarers left, Caleb said that Fort Rénnutēs was a keep in the Áos Hills, not all that far from the mines.

They made camp, and the next morning, it rained. After the rain storm, Caleb, Kim, Yémos, and Kúflaug had a small tree fall on them, though luckily nobody was too hurt. That afternoon, they saw a swarm of 28 giant bees coming at them, but they held fast, and let the bees fly above them. That night, while keeping watch, Kim had a rattlesnake spring up on her, but she killed it before it bit her.
